A national surge of measles cases has health officials concerned about possible widespread outbreaks of the highly infectious disease.
In a packed ballroom at the Austin Convention Center, hundreds of people buzzed in their chairs waiting for the opening speaker at South by Southwest Friday morning. Dozens milled up and down the rows, searching for an open seat and the chance to be in the same room as Brene Brown as she told stories. Last-minute stragglers ended up in an overflow room.
A couple leaving a bar in downtown Austin Jan. 19 was attacked by two drunk men yelling slurs at them, they told police. Their faces and heads were bashed and kicked in. Both ended up in the hospital, bruised and bloody.
